You should not see these pictures for another 48 hours or so, but here it is – the new BMW 4 Series Coupe. Photos of what seemed like a brochure went to Instagram courtesy of BMWorldM account, which obviously has no official connection with the actual company. The grille’s dream front is truly catching on, signaling a whole new corporate face for future BMWs.
We are not sure if the extra-size pair will look better in states where a front license plate is not mandatory. The grille pattern you see will not be available on all 4 models of the series as this look is reserved for M Performance cars. You’ve seen it on cars like the M135i and M235i Gran Coupe, along with the M340i and Europa M340d.
Overall, the design remains in line with Concept 4 presented last year. That’s not a surprise considering the Frankfurt showcar was molded after the model’s going on the road. If you learn to live with the grille, the rest of the car has some nice lines. We are eager to see the new 4er in the stunning Sunset Orange paint included in the brochure. Sanremo Green seems like a good choice, too.
Here are all the colors listed in the brochure:
- Alpine White
- Black Sapphire
- Mineral White
- Artic Race Blue
- Portimao Blue
- Sunset Orange
- Sanremo Green
- Black Non-Metallic
- Bright White Metallic
- Dravite Gray
- Frozen Deep Gray
- Frozen Portimao Blue
- Tanzanite Blue
“An icon in a sea of the ordinary” is what the brochure says, and we can all agree that the 4 Series is nothing but nonsense. Naturally, the version featured in the brochure is the M Performance model that carries the M440i badge. This is the hot position just below the full M4 fat, complete with turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engines for 369 horsepower (275 kilowatt) and 369 pounds-feet (500 Newton-meters).
The M440i is a xDrive-only romance exclusively offered with an eight-speed automatic and a lightweight hybrid system. The electrified component adds 11 hp (8 kW) to the mix thanks to a temporary boost. The lesser versions of the range should mirror BMW’s offerings for the sedan counterpart, the 3 Series.
The official announcement will take place on Tuesday when we will have a complete photo gallery and all the juicy details. Stay tuned.
