BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) ̵1; Wildlife officials in North Dakota say that three deers taken during the 2018 period of the gun are positive for acute waste.
Department of Game State and Animal Fish Animal Charlie Bahnson says that two contaminated deer are located in the 3F2 unit southwest of North Dakota, along the border of South Dakota, and the other is found in Divide County.
Bahnson said that Divide County's case was not surprising because acute illness was found in Saskatchewan last spring. He said wildlife officials took steps to limit the spread within the county.
From 2009, all 14 positive cases are from the 3F2 unit, which includes portions of Sioux, Grant, Morton, Hettinger and Adams counties.
Acute wasting disease is obtained by contact with saliva, blood, urine and other liquids or tissues of contaminated animals.
