Alabama and Clemson filed their cases for No. 1 – The Athletic



I will keep Clemson No. 1, but Tide came from a very talented team and won to leave. Based on the caliber of the opponent they beat and how they defeated them, I felt they deserved the top spot this week. As always, I only rank teams that play during this time.

Alabama (4-0)

Georgia came to its showdown with the Tide allowing only 198 passing yards per game. Alabama receivers DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle each put up more than 160 as they teamed up with Mac Jones to ignite a very talented defense. Clemson (5-0)
