Americans are getting heavier – Axios

Data: Centers for Control and Prevention of Pain; Chart: Andrew Witherspoon / Axios

Americans do not get much higher, but they get more weight, according to new CDC data. Since 1999, the average weight of men has increased from £ 189 to £ 198. The average weight of women has ranged from 164 pounds to 171 pounds.

The bottom line: Obesity is more complex than diet or exercise habits. But research shows that weight loss over time makes people more susceptible to other health hazards such as diabetes or heart disease.
