Police said the incident occurred at 2100 block of Seamist Drive and W. 18th Street around 2:30 a.m. by ATF agents who responded to the incident.
According to officials, arson investigators are investigating a series of car fires this week. When investigators attempted to deliver a warrant to a person they considered to be a suspect, shots were fired between the two parties, officials said.
Police said the suspect was already dead when they arrived at the scene and one of the investigators was hit and taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown condition.
