Best Day headphone deals still available: Save $ 50 on AirPods Pro, save $ 52 on Sony earbuds

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to make sure you get the best deal.

Main Day 2020 is done technically, but there are still some Day Deal deals you can take advantage of, and Walmart’s “Big Save” shopping event is running at the end of today. That means you can still find bargains on some of your favorite headphones, including the top-of-the-line noise cancellation of real wireless headphones and the high-rated WF-1

000XM3 earbuds that cancel out noise.

Note that prices and availability are accurate at the time of publication, but they are subject to change.

The AirPods Pro briefly dropped to less than $ 190 on Tuesday during a Woot deal, but sold out immediately. Now the current top of the line noise cancellation of real wireless headphones is back on sale for $ 199. That’s still expensive, but $ 50 off the price you pay at the Apple Store, and less than $ 20 more than usual price on Amazon. Read our review on Apple AirPods Pro.

List of WF-1000XM3 earbuds for $ 230. They sank to $ 170 earlier this year, but at $ 178, they still sound the best wireless earbuds in this price range and also feature of active noise cancellation technology to reduce ambient noise.

The only drawback is that the WF-1000XM3 earbuds are not rated as sweat-proof or waterproof headphones. That said, I used them for light exercise with a little sweat in the gym without a problem. They use Bluetooth 5.0 with support for AAC, but not aptX.

Note that we expect Sony to release the next generation WF-1000XM4, but at this point, we may not see them in 2021. Read our review on the Sony WF-1000XM3.

It took a while, but now we finally have a new real wireless noise-canceling sports model from Sony: the WF-SP800N. Interestingly, I wrote at the end of my almost positive review that I wanted to see them more in the $ 160- $ 175 range. Recently dropped to $ 127, but the current price of $ 148 is still on the $ 50 list below, and $ 20 below their average street price.

This is not the WF-1000XM3 with water resistant body. Sony’s QN1e processor is missing, but many still like it, including excellent sound, solid noise cancellation and excellent call quality. This is definitely a significant upgrade to the WF-SP700N, which came out in 2018, and the “arches” (sport fins) are lining the buds to your ears. Just make sure you get a tight seal from one of the accompanying ear tips or otherwise both sound and noise cancellation. Read our review on the Sony WF-SP800N.

The WF-XB700 is in the company’s Extra Bass line and lists $ 130. I tried them and really liked their fit. Their sound quality does not measure up to the WF-1000XM3 or WF-SP800N (it has no clarity), but if you like bass, these earbuds sound decent. I thought they were a bit expensive at $ 130. At $ 52, or $ 78 – which corresponds to their all-time low – they are a much more attractive option. Read our first acquisition of Sony WF-XB700 Extra Bass.

Sony’s latest noise-canceling headphones are getting a $ 50 discount for Big Day and Amazon has thrown away a $ 25 gift card to sweeten the deal.

The new WH-1000XM4 improves voice calling (compared to the WH-1000XM3) and also adds multipoint Bluetooth pairing so you can connect two devices – like your phone and PC – at the same time. That means that if a call comes in while you are using the headphones on your computer, the audio will switch to your phone when you answer the call.

The Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 probably still have an edge for voice calls, but the 1000XM4 headphones are arguably more comfortable and have some other noise and sound cancellation improvements that make this model very good. options. Read our review on the Sony WH-1000XM4.

When Bose released its new flagship Noise Canceling 700 Headphones, it did not drop the QuietComfort 35 II from its headphone lineup, and it is still a leading model of noise cancellation. While I think the 700 performs better overall, there are people who prefer the QuietComfort 35 II.

While the QuietComfort 35 II listing costs $ 350, it usually sells for $ 300 or less. However, $ 199 is about the lowest price we have ever seen for it. It is also for sale at Best Buy. Read our review on Bose QuietComfort 35 II.

Amazon’s Echo Buds design is decent, great for calling – they have Bose noise reduction technology – and features hands-free Alexa for issuing voice commands without pressing any buttons. I thought they were a bit expensive at $ 130, but they were more attractive at $ 80, especially after getting some firmware upgrades that improved their performance. If you can’t afford Sony’s WH-1000XM4, the more entry-level WH-CH710N headphones that canceled noise dropped to $ 88 after hitting $ 100 recently. They do not offer the sound quality, build quality or performance cancellation of Sony’s 1000X models, but at $ 88 they offer great value for money. However, I do not think they are worth anywhere near $ 200, their list price.

Standard AirPods with a case with charging wires sell for $ 125 on Amazon. But for Big Day, the price is $ 115, which makes for an extra $ 10 savings. While I want to see them hit $ 99, that’s about the best price you’ll find for a standard AirPod.

Microsoft’s super-ear noise cancellation on the Surface Headphones 2 was released earlier this year, and the biggest change from their predecessor was the price: The original Surface Headphones launched at $ 350, while the Headphones 2 were costs $ 250 – and now Amazon has them for $ 200 for Big Day.

While they lost their hands-free Cortana voice control feature (a change without a welder) and the sound quality was not improved (very good but not stellar), the combination of a few small design tweaks, more good battery life, upgraded Bluetooth and the new lower price help raise their rating and make them more recommended.

Their multipoint Bluetooth pairing capability allows you to pair them on two devices simultaneously (such as a computer and a phone) and quickly transfer audio from each device to headphones. This is an attractive feature from a perspective from work, and it also works for making voice calls. Read our review on Microsoft Surface Headphones 2.

The Sony WH-XB900N looks similar to Sony’s WH-1000XM4. It’s not as snazzy, however, and it doesn’t deliver the same level of sound quality and performance cancellation, though it does share some of its features. But if you like bass, it has a lot – it’s a Sony Extra Bass headphone after all. It is also a comfortable headphone with decent noise cancellation features. We saw its price drop to approximately $ 150 during the holiday purchase last year, so $ 123 is a good price. Read our review on the Sony WH-XB900N.

Beats Powerbeats Pro list for $ 250 but usually sells for $ 200. These earbuds are $ 175 for Prime Day, which is almost as low as we’ve seen them. Note that only black and white models are sold for $ 175.
