First look at the Tesla Model 3 ‘refresh’ powered lift gate

Tesla has launched a number of subtle changes for the Model 3 in the recently released “refresh” of the all-electric sedan, from new chrome removed accents to a new center console. A powered lift gate has also become standard in the Model 3 line, a welcome update that car electric buyers will surely appreciate.

A recently shared online image from a Tesla owner enthusiast Tesla Raj provided some interesting details about the newly powered lift gate of the Model 3. The image itself featured what would appear to be a newly produced Midnight Silver Metallic Model 3 with its tree open. Based on the photo, it appears that Tesla has placed a dedicated button lift gate on the passenger side, and a reinforced strut seems to have been installed on the driver’s side.

The placement of the elevated elevator gate button is not surprising, considering that the Model Y, the close sibling of the Model 3, also has a dedicated reinforced lift button on the passenger side. Funnily enough, Tesla seems to have decided to use only one reinforced strut for the refreshed Model 3, unlike the Model Y, which runs struts on both the driver and passenger side.

Of course, this may have been done because of the Model 3 trunk which is not as heavy as the Model Y, but it gives the all-electric sedan̵

7;s gate an asymmetrical look, as mentioned by a number of Tesla owners and enthusiasts on Twitter. It also makes the OEM Model 3 powered gate different compared to third-party solutions such as those derived Tesla Offers, featuring two reinforced struts.

Tesla is currently trying to deliver a record number of electric cars this quarter, with the company aiming to provide 180,000 vehicles to customers before the end of the year. To do this, the manufacturer of an electric car not only needs to make enough vehicles, but also make sure that its cars are as attractive to potential customers as possible.

Model 3 “refresh,” with improved range and enhanced performance for Long Range Dual Motor AWD versions and Performance, as well as compelling new features such as its powered trunk and chrome-deletes trims, will definitely help the company meet its ambitious 2020 goals
