Engel died on Friday at Princeton, New Jersey, according to The New York Times.
Famous for his helium-high voice and sunny motion, Engel played the ditzy girlfriend Georgette on The Mary Tyler Moore Show joined the show in 1972 and left it until the end of 1977 series. Georgette will marry Ted, and Engel earns a pair of Emmy nominations on paper. He went to his co-star Mary Tyler Moore Show Betty White in a self-titled White CBS sitcom, and played a memorable role as Howard's wife Shirley at ABC comedy Coach .
More recently, Engel joined the cast of CBS hit Everybody Loves Raymond as Robert's mother Pat, who marks three straight Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series from 2003 to 2005. Engel also met White again on Hot TV on the Land Land of Cleveland with the presentation of Passions Two and a Half Men . His last TV role was a Season 2 episode of Netflix's One Day at a Time .
