LONDON (AP) – Tottenham start-up Alex Morgan will not be back in a few weeks, but Tobin Heath and Christen Press are already running – and are marking their first goals for Manchester United with different fortunes for those coming in America in the Women’s Super League.
Two weeks after their first appearance for United, Heath hit the ball in the left corner and Press came out on the bench to net in the far end to complete a 4-2 victory over West Ham.
Fellow World Cup winner Morgan has yet to get a spot for Tottenham after signing last month as he has yet to regain the match. She gave birth to Charlie Elena Carrasco in May and has not played since 2019.
Like his countrymen, Morgan came to England to find game time before the scheduled Tokyo Olympics in 2021, the American era combined with the pandemic.
“A small failure that prevents me from doing what I want,” Morgan tweeted Sunday. “Can’t wait to get on the field with this team in the coming weeks. Literally can’t wait.”
