Ilhan Omar offers an absurd reason for anti-Semitic scheduling

A controversial spokesperson advertised as sharing a podium later this month to Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Was removed yesterday afternoon from promotional material for the event after my Washington Examiner piece (and a similar story by the Jerusalem Post) Omar's scheduled participation is highlighted.

Omar press aide Jeremy Slevin sent some direct messages to Twitter last night saying that another spokesperson, Yousef Abdallah, was not just the program, but had scheduled to speak at the dinner in question. However, Abdallah was presented as one of the same speakers on flyers and online advertisements for the event since at least January 31

, in other words, for at least 13 days, possibly longer.

All these questions have emerged as a result of Omar's last week's statements so widely interpreted as House's anti-Semitic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Public rebuked new people from Minnesota. The statements continue with the ongoing concern that Omar traffics in "anti-Semitic tropes."

The scheduled February 23 event in question is being billed as a dinner for Yemen's convenience. It is sponsored by Islamic Relief USA, identified by many government and banking agencies as a financier or allies of terrorist-based groups such as Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood. IRUSA defeats those attributes.

When I asked Slevin to explain how Abdallah was in the announcement for a long time if he was not invited to speak and answer if Omar knew the status of IRUSA as an alleged terrorist advocate, Slevin just sent a link to a follow-up at the Jerusalem Post exploring the unique timeline of the advertisement dinner. That story is quite responsive to the first question, but not everyone responds to the second one.

In the Jerusalem Post report, "On January 19, Slevin said Florida staff Relief USA told the marketing department to remove Yousef Abdallah from the flyer because he was not a spokesperson. The flyer was printed with a name by Abdallah Slevin explained by saying that the flyer is based on a template used for the previous event where Abdallah participated and said on February 6, Omar requested the details of the program and topics, but they said & # 39; not provided to Ilhan's staff. & # 39; "

It's funny. Web pages can be updated almost immediately. However, by Slevin's own account, it is known not only from January 31, but as early as January 19, the advertisement is (supposedly) inaccurate. However, the error has not been corrected until after February 12 coverage coverage, a full 24 days later, has asked Omar's decision to participate in the event.

I go to Syed Hassan, an IRUSA spokesperson. I repeated, in detail, my questions about when it was scheduled to speak Abdallah, and why his name remained on flyers and websites for weeks, until the stories ended Washington Examiner and Jerusalem Post published on February 12. I also asked if Abdallah remains an IRUSA employee despite his anti-Semitic posters social media posts, and if IRUSA disputes the evidence its support for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood or disputes in categorizing those groups being sponsors of terrorism.

After five hours (after an intervening phone call), Hassan responded with a long statement that again responded slightly. He said that Abdallah was not a spokesperson and "was listed on the flyer because of an internal printing error. While it may not be correct with flyers that have been released, the details of the event are corrected on the page events on our website. "He did not answer directly if Abdallah was scheduled as a spokeswoman for this event of the month, or why it has long been taking his name on the website and any subsequent printed flyer after discovering the error a long time ago.

Hassan said that Abdallah would actually remain an IRUSA employee despite his post celebrating violence against Jews:

Islamic Relief USA did not authorize or defend any statement made by Abdallah , or any individual, who promotes discrimination or violence of any kind. … In accordance with the strict discrimination and standards of conduct of Islamic Relief USA, Yousef Abdallah immediately subjected to internal discipline and action for remedial following the knowledge of his actions. Additionally, Islamic Relief USA continues to show its values by increasing the existing diversity efforts and sensitivity training for staff. These efforts include visiting the Holocaust Museum to better understand the tremendous impact of hateful rhetoric and attend an international anti-Semitism conference. Last year, Islamic Relief representatives visited Auschwitz and reflected on the evils of anti-Semitism and then shared these experiences with the staff.

As all government and banking agencies mentioned the Relations of Islamic Relief in Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan wrote generically, rather than in response to specific quotations:

Islamic Relief USA has a very important history of extensive engagement and collaboration with multi-faith and secular partners, including well-known American American organizations, to implement its shared mission to reduce poverty and hardship people in the United States and around the world. Islam Relief USA certainly condemns and criticizes the discrimination and violence expressed in any form. Additionally, any suggestion that Islamic Relief USA is subject to incorrect influence or affiliation with any external political or religious organization or entity, is evidently false and not based in fact.

Again said more specific questions about the timeline of advertisements that listed Abdallah as a spokesman with Rep. Omar, Hassan did not reply. He told previous communications he wanted to submit a visitor's column for consideration of Washington Examiner .

So we stopped to put it in perspective. Si Rep. Omar has been accused for years, at a minimum, without the threat of anti-Semitism, yet he continues to promote anti-Semitic propaganda and associates with creatures that are credibly accused of support for violence against Jews . When asked about another scheduled event on the same line, his press aide offers obfuscations and not-very likely reasons, but no straight answers.

Meanwhile, the group that promotes dinner, IRUSA, denies any anti-Semitic activity, but still runs a person whose tweets express approval for the killing of more than 20 Jews and firefighters in Tel Aviv, with a call to God to "destroy [Zionists] while you destroyed the Citizens of Ad, Thamud and Lot." And somehow, this IRUSA employee was mistakenly charged as a speaker at an event with Omar, because of … an internal printing error?

Any thoughtful member of Congress will run for his life from the platform of such a group. And when caught participating in the event, he will be removed from here, not his press aide offers unreasonable explanations and reasons.

At issue here is not only the suspicion of hating Omar, but also its integrity. One can only get away with many lies. His ongoing membership with the main House committees should be very much in question. (F, b, e, v, n, t, s) {if (f.fbq) return; n = f.fbq = function () {n.callMethod?
