Iowa reported 16 additional deaths of coronavirus, 1,330 new cases

The Iowa Department of Public Health on Friday reported 1,330 new positive cases of coronavirus and 16 additional deaths. As of 10 a.m. Friday, the state reported 104,552 total positive cases, 80,486 total recoveries and 1,521 total deaths since the pandemic began. The state reported 103,222 positive cases and 1,505 deaths 24 hours earlier. State data shows that 886,557 Iowans were tested for COVID-19. The health department received 6,577 lab test results in the previous day, with 839 positive cases. The state also accepts test results from previous days which adds up to the overall total. Iowa reported a 14-day positive rate of 9.2%. IDPH data shows 14 provinces reporting a positive rate of more than 15% in the last 14 days, down from 19 the previous day. Public schools in Harrison, Sioux, Carroll, Osceola, Monroe, Delaware, Plymouth, Emmet, Lyon, Taylor, Fremont, Decatur, Crawford and Woodbury counties may apply for a waiver to offer 100 % virtual instruction. Harrison, Sioux and Carroll counties are reporting a rate greater than 20% in the last 14 days. COOVID-19 hospitals in Iowa dropped out after setting records several times this week. There are currently 468 Iowans hospitalized with the virus, down from 482 the previous day. There are 105 patients listed in intensive care, down from 107 the previous day. There were 66 patients admitted in the last 24 hours, unchanged from the previous day. There are currently 48 patients with ventilators in Iowa, down from 49 the previous day. There are also fewer long-term care facilities in Iowa that report coronavirus outbreaks. There are currently 58 listed state, down from 61 facilities the previous day.
