Iowa reported 915 new cases of coronavirus, 2 additional deaths

The Iowa Department of Public Health on Sunday reported another 915 new cases of coronavirus and two additional deaths. On Sunday, the state reported 107,062 total COVID-19 cases, 81,781 total recoveries and 1,528 total deaths since the pandemic began. Twenty-four hours earlier, Iowa reported 106,147 total cases and 1,526 total deaths. Health department data shows 898,870 Iowans have been tested for the virus. The state received 4,884 lab test results in the last 24 hours, with 629 positive cases. The state receives results from previous days that add up to the overall total. Iowa reported a 9.6% positivity rate over the last 14 days. There are 15 Iowa counties reporting a positive rate of more than 15% in the last 14 days. Public schools in Harrison, Sioux, Delaware, Plymouth, Carroll, Monroe, Taylor, Osceola, Emmet, Crawford, Decatur, Lyon, Humboldt, Woodbury and Cass counties are eligible for a waiver to provide 100% online learning. Harrison and Sioux counties report a positivity rate of more than 20%. There are currently 475 patients hospitalized with coronavirus, up from 461 the previous day. There were 108 patients listed in intensive care, up from 104 the previous day. There were 84 patients admitted in the last 24 hours, up from 55 the previous day. IDPH reported 45 patients with fans, down from 46 the previous day. State data show 64 long-term care facilities reporting COVID-19 outbreaks, up from 63 the previous day. There were 768 deaths within long-term Iowa care facilities. Current data shows 1,564 positive cases and 630 recovered within infected facilities.
