“Vote the b —– s out of office and keep the good folks in,” Killer Mike said during the commercial-free event, which also features pre-record appearances by Pharrell Williams, 2 Chainz, Zack de la Rocha, Mavis Staples and Josh Homme.
Run the Jewels’ Killer Mike and El-P performed their new album, RTJ4, in its entirety at Adult Swim on Saturday in an effort to encourage voting in the November election.
The powerful event without a commercial, dubbed Holy Calamavote, marked the first live performance of RTJ4, which dropped in June. The television set features pre-recorded performances by Pharrell Williams, 2 Chainz, Zack de la Rocha, Mavis Staples and Josh Homme, all of whom are guests on the album.
Comedian Eric Andre hosted a 45-minute broadcast, providing comic relief between 11 songs performed.
The hip-hop duo kept it tight with music during most of the program, but broke their silence until late and urged viewers to vote on November 3rd.
“We believe the last thing they want you to do is leave your home and march in person, cover up and vote your ballot for what you think this country should be, for what you think should be make this country reflect, “El-P said at the closing track” A Few Words for the Firing Squad. “” We want you to get down there. And when you get there, tell them Run the Jewels sent you. “
The killer Mike, who was the first recipient of Billboard’s inaugural Change Maker Award at the Billboard Music Awards on October 14, added, “Vote locally, vote on the ballot. Vote for your principal, judge, prosecutor – for people looking at your life. Vote bitches outside the office and keep good people in. “
