A weekend of college football with a couple of blockbuster matchups that lived up to their charge led to a major change in the Amway Coaches Poll, including a new No. 1 and a 10. result. LSU claimed the top position as expected, thanks to its win over Alabama. The Tigers have received 55 of 64 first-place votes and are ranked No. 1 in the ranking since the 2012 preseason poll. The Crimson Tide was demoted to No. 4 and will surely be the subject of much debate as the final playoff berth approaches.
The State of Ohio, meanwhile, falls to No. 2 places. The Buckeyes picked up five before and jumped No.3 Clemson, who retained four No. 1 nods. Georgia moved up one spot to round out the top five and Oregon climbed to No. 6.
