Massachusetts releases COVID-19 vaccination plan

BOSTON (WWLP) – Health officials are already planning how to get a vaccine within the Commonwealth.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has asked states to submit their vaccine distribution plans before November 1.

Massachusetts has unveiled a draft version of how they plan to distribute the vaccine on Saturday. According to the draft, the state expects to receive between 20,000 and 60,000 doses of vaccine in the first phase.

The first phase prioritizes health care workers and people at high risk. Phase two will include people of color and lower incomes in communities that have seen higher virus rates.

When the state has enough vaccines available in the final stages, health officials say the plan is to get everyone vaccinated quickly and freely.
