The numbers reported by the state on a daily basis sometimes differ from those reported by county public health departments due to the periodic delay in reporting state data. We encourage people to check the official website and / or Facebook page of their respective provincial health department for any information not yet included in the daily state update.

Governor Steve Bullock announced a statewide directive requiring face masks / masks in Montana on July 15. The directive applies to provinces with four or more active COVID-19 cases. The directive requires that masks be used in most internal settings and where social distance is not maintained. Bullock said businesses have the right to refuse the entry of anyone wearing a mask. CDC: The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released data last month emphasizing that people with contributing or underlying medical conditions are more at risk of dying from COVID- 19. According to the CDC, approximately 94% of all COVID-related deaths in the country are people who have contributed to medical conditions and illness. The CDC report states: “For 6% of deaths, COVID-19 is the single cause cited. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there are 2.6 additional conditions or causes of each death. ” The report states that the most common underlying medical conditions that contribute to COVID-related deaths include respiratory diseases such as pneumonia, asthma, and COPD; diabetes; hyptertensive diseases; and heart disease. The CDC also recently released an update on their research into the death rates associated with COVID-19. A summary of COVID-19 survival rates is shown below; the summary is one of five based on many situations. CDC data and situations can be found here.

COVID-19 Safety Rates

  • Age 0-19: 99.997%
  • Age 20-49: 99.98%
  • Age 50-69: 99.5%
  • Age 70+: 94.6%

The CDC said the scenarios were intended to advance public health preparedness and planning, and not predictions or estimates of the expected impact of COVID-19. The parameter values in each scenario will be updated and increased over time, as the agency learns more about the epidemiology of COVID-19. The update from September 10 is based on data received by the CDC until August 8.
