“We thought election time would be a perfect time to eliminate hunger at the table at least once while people are at the polls,” Rosenthal shared in a statement.
With a record recordout turnout expected this election year, Phil Rosenthal and the Rosenthal Family Foundation launched Somebody Feed The People, a national campaign set up to raise funds for food organizations waiting for voters line.
Ahead of Somebody Feed Phil the host returns to Netflix with his fourth season of food and travel shows (October 30), he shares in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter the spark for his inclusive and non-partisan campaign.
“Food is not only a good combination; it is also something that many of us value. We thought that election time would be a perfect time to get rid of hunger at the table even for a meal while people are in the polls, “Rosenthal said. “Our mission is pretty simple ̵1; we just want to feed the People who choose to show up at the polls and face the long line.”
The Rosenthal Family Foundation matches contributions up to $ 250,000 for the campaign, welcoming anyone who participates “enthusiastically making sure People are fed.”
Organizations already receiving support through the campaign include Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen and Pizza in Polls, and actions include mobilizing food trucks and on-demand food delivery to communities across country.
