The animation prepared by Christianen shows how long dinosaurs lived on Earth – and how short, compared to the time of the dinosaurs, was the human era. It describes the movement of our planetary system throughout the galaxy.

The sun is moving in the center of our galaxy – it will take nearly 250 million years for the sun to fully rotate around this center. Currently, Earth and Sun are in the part of the galaxy where they were most recent in the Triassic era – where dinosaurs are still beginning to appear on Earth. When the most famous dinosaurs appear on our planet – stegosaurus, velociraptors or tyrannosaurs – our planet is in another part of the galaxy.
The animation presented by Christianen shows the motion of our planetary system around the center of the galaxy with points superimposed on the path of motion where individual species of dinosaurs appear. "The animation shows that we are back to the same point, but in fact the whole universe has come a long way," emphasizes Dr. Christianen. – It was as if we were walking through space – he added.
Therefore, after completing our full rotation around the galaxy, our planetary system is at a slightly different point than 250 million years ago.
Dr. Christianen also points out that our planetary system does not change in distance from the center of the galaxy during movement, and therefore conditions on Earth do not change, as does life itself.
