Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, told Fox News Wednesday that House Democrats want to impeach President Trump ahead of his July 25 phone call to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky and will do so despite lack of evidence for a quid pro quo arrangement.
"Even in [House Intelligence Chairman] Adam Schiff [D-Calif.] with no evidence and now exposed with no road and conversation and no quid pro quo with the President of the United States, he would continue, as [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi [D-Calif.] to oust this president, "Turner told" Hannity. "
Turner's comments came after US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland revealed he had been told by Trump on September 9: "I don't want to. I don't. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky to do what is right." The opening statement, in which he did not specify that Trump wants Ukraine to publicly declare investigation into the presidential elections of the U.S. president and Burisma ̵1; the Ukrainian gas company where Biden's son, sitting – was a prerequisite for a coveted White House visit for Zelensky.
Under questioning from Turner, Sondland admitted that he had no evidence "other than my own opinion" that Trump had ordered $ 400 million in military aid withheld from Ukraine until Zelensky announced the investigations which the US president has asked for to be opened, as claimed by the House Democrats.
