Alexis Sanchez may need to score only one goal to kick-start his powerful career at Manchester United, according to interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Norwegian did not get the punches when he said, "I can not do anything about Alexis Sanchez", immediately after 2-0 defeat at Paris St Germain in midweek following another anonymous display ] from Chilean.
Solskjaer destroyed a more frustrating tone in his press conference to preview the fifth round of the FA Cup in Chelsea, where Sanchez could have been in the starting role in the absence of Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial .
He was inside and outside the starting XI under the two-month tenure of Solskjaer after his recovery from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for six weeks on the back end of last year.
As Sanchez attempts to rediscover the United nomination form from signing him from Arsenal a little more than a year ago, Solskjaer brought a small levity to the trial by comparing the situation of the 30-year old in trying to get a tomato ketchup of a bottle.
Solskjaer said: "I think he is a very good player, he is very talented but of course there are many things you can sit and talk about and tweak."
"If you get he's just that goal I'm sure to release some of his confidence. That's what about when you go to the times you did not perform until your criteria because we know there's a very, very good player there.
"It's just one of those things, like a bottle of ketchup when it never comes but then when it comes suddenly, it loads out. When it comes, it comes. It will surely be fine.
"He can still play for many, many years. He's been here for a year, I've been here for two months now and he's hurt in the first half.
"It's unjust to expect him to be at the top right away. Surely we will see the best of him (from now on) until the end of time."
