SpaceX’s crew mission is a ‘go’ for launch next week

The historic launch that will take NASA astronauts to the ISS off US soil has been cleared for launch next week despite the coronavirus pandemic and the removal of the agency’s human spaceflight lead. This is the first time astronauts have been deported from the US since the completion of NASA’s space shuttle program in 2011, when they began boarding Russian Soyuz heels.

NASA and SpaceX have confirmed that they have “a successful launch readiness test” at a virtual conference. Steve Jurczyk, Associate Administrator of the agency, says they did “a thorough review of all systems and all risks” and unanimously decided that everyone was in place for a May 27th launch.
