Tesla now offers a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Model 3 variant in China that is significantly cheaper than dual-Motor and Performance versions of the vehicle.
The decision to provide a more affordable version of Tesla Model 3 came after almost a month of opening the general public ordering process. This decision is likely to be the result of Tesla China which realizes that they can get additional market penetration by providing cheaper options to the public.

The base price for the Chinese Model 3 RWD is set at ¥ 433,000 ($ 64,300) ¥ 66,000 ($ 9,800) cheaper than the unavailable Performance Dual-Motor option. It is clear that the $ 10,000 difference can be an attractive incentive for many Chinese customers.
| Tesla Model 3 Rear Wheel Drive offered in China with 600+ km range By looking at Chinese online Model 3 configurator (screenshot above) We can see the scope shown is 600+ km (~ 372 miles), which seems strange as the largest battery pack available in the United States offers ~ 310 miles (~ 500 km) of coverage. However, this calculation is preferred based on different test methods used in China, and makes it more applicable to other electrical models in the country. |
The Tesla Model 3 test drive is also available today at selected Tesla Stores in China because some Model Performance models have reached the country's shores recently. Reported by our friend JayinShanghai February 1st is the last day of the test drive offered at the Jinqiao Tesla Store in Shanghai.

Tesla's Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai is also on a fast track of construction and development, according to the latest reports and drone footage – the Chinese Gigafactory supplying the local market to the most affordable base variants of Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, according to Elon Musk.
Tesla Gigafactory 3 is expected to ramp up production next year. Until then, Chinese Tesla customers will have the upper trims of Model 3 available to them for purchase.
Hopefully, we will have more photos, videos, and updates for you from the test drive, so & # 39; t stay tuned!
