It was a miracle on the ice.
An old Indian man put a see-through freezer box after his apparent death was taken alive – when he was seen moving 24 hours later in his frozen coffin.
Balasubramaniya Kumar, 74, was placed in a frozen container to protect his body for the final ritual after his brother assumed he died in Kandhampatti on Monday afternoon, according to the New India Express.
But when the freezer-box company staff returned at the same time the next day to collect it, he noticed Kumar was still shaking and breathing, reports said.
“His hands are shaking, how?” someone asked behind the camera while filming Kumar in the video that went viral in India, according to The Independent.
One of his companions ̵1; identified as Kumar’s brother, Saravanan – was placed in “seizures,” according to reports, saying, “His soul has not left him.”
Kumar was immediately released and rushed to a local hospital in Salem city, reports said. “He responds to treatment and collaboration,” Drs. R. Balajnathan in the Times of India.
The 70-year-old brother is being investigated for possible negligent behavior to endanger human life and an act that endangers the life or personal safety of others, Indian papers say.
However, he was not arrested, and reports suggest that the brother may have suffered from mental illness.
“We will take the necessary action against Saravanan after questioning,” an official told the Times of India.
