The Jewish People Spread Meals on New York-Michigan Trip – The Forward



A man who did not know the infection of 39 people with measles when he traveled from an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn Michigan, who raised money for charity, reported The Washington Post.

The man, referred to as "Patient Zero of Michigan," remained in private homes, entered the synagogue and shopped in the markets right, spreading the contagious respiratory virus while he traveled. He felt the pain, according to the Post, and saw a doctor in Detroit. The doctor never met the measles before and started the diagnosis of the person with bronchitis.

The situation proves how quickly the spread of measles through insular communities.

New York experiences the greatest measles outbreak in recent history. It is usually affected by areas of Jewish Orthodox, where false information about vaccination has spread. According to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, 329 measles cases have been confirmed since last October.

Emergency states were called to Brooklyn and the heavily-Jewish areas of suburban Rockland County, and rabbis urged community members to vaccinate their children. However, some continue to abstain.
