Mercedes-Benz has seven SUVs in its lineup, but looks like it's one that's ready to force its way. Better, like muscle in its way.
Concept GLB starts at Shanghai Auto The show is a sneak peek on the likely compact crossover utility with rugged features and some off-road capabilities.
The seven passengers are size between GLA and GLC and have a boxier and bulkier style than any of them. From its black fender flares to spiked hook panels and elevated height, it appears from an alternate future where Daimler-Chrysler and the Jeep have never been coupled to Mercedes-Benz instead.
The formula is similar to what Ford uses the Bronco-inspired utility vehicle design based on Escape.
In the concept form, GLB all wheel-drive is equipped with a 224 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that can be locked to split 50:50 power between front and rear wheels for light off-roading. Rails, spotlights and a roof storage box show the objectives of the expedition.
In the spirit of the hardcore G-Class, GLB's interior is more dressed in leather, suede and real wood trim and has a short dashboard with round vents and dual 12.3-inch display like its big sister. Despite the small general length of the GLB, Mercedes-Benz said the third row may fit into "adults & # 39; seniors, and the second row slide fore and then customize the use of space.
Mercedes-Benz did not confirm plans to place it in production, but pointed out that the original GLA Concept was launched both in 2013 and in the showroom next year.
