A giant mantle ray was recorded seeking help from a snorkel in Australia to remove the metal hooks from his face.
The magnificent footage showed a 10-foot sea creature attempt to get the snorkeling instructor's attention, Jake Wilton, at the Ningaloo Coast reef near Western Australia, reported by NBC News on Friday.
Manta ray, known by the local Freckles, has large fishing near the right eye.
"It's so great for an animal to open and return to you and show themselves," Wilton told NBC News. "So I know once he starts contacting us, it's something very special."
Wilton said that he immediately realized that the sea crew needed help ̵1; and the hooks were removed.
"It's really thinking about anything other than trying to get them," he said. "I do not really want to kill it."
British biologist Monty Halls, who films on May 24 encounters, says that manta ray has emerged as a divergent diversity.
"I think the mantle knows Jake is trying to get the hooks," Halls told NBC News.
