It appears Artifact Beta 2.0 is the latest review result. According to Valve, the beta of the original Artifact is “too late” and “too short,” so it wants to seek public opinion earlier this time. “We decided to approach things a little differently this time by gradually inviting people to come along as we were ‘Under Construction’,” it said on its website.

Everyone is welcome to sign up, but players will be given priority over the original version. If you expect an email from us but you haven’t received it for any reason the above link will still work for you.

As mentioned above, gamers of the original game will get priority to sign up for the beta. Valve will be sending emails to all of them next week. “We use a lottery system to invite people to join,” it said in a statement. “Beta access will remain closed until we’ve worked through signups from the original players. Communication about the game will remain open for the duration of Beta.”
At this stage, Valve hopes to try out a host of different mechanisms such as gameplay, balance and hero identity. Some gameplay modes will be locked however, such as tournaments and draft modes.
It remains unclear when Valve will finally move into an open beta of Artifact, but if all goes according to plan, after that particular cycle of “experimentation and development” is over.
