Vandals in North Carolina have tried to intensify a statue of Gen. Lee – but they got the wrong person.
The two punks are packed with a marble copy of veteran World War II Maj. Gen. William C. Lee – not the leader of the organization Robert E. Lee – outside the veteran museum last week, authorities said.
"The United States owes huge debt to our military forces and all five military branches are kept safe and free of charge in this country for all this year," the museum was told on Facebook.
"Then go with some jerk punk (s) and try to burn the statue of WWII Major General William C. Lee."
Museum officials believe that defasers made a mistake in Gen. William Lee in Gen. Robert E. Lee. "I think this is a big mistake," Mark Johnson, the museum's supervisor, told WNCN.
The statue is burned on edge and can cost several hundred dollars to fix.
The local police are looking for vandals.
