Walmart gets a face-lift. On Wednesday, the retail giant released a redesign of store design to 200 Supercenters at the start of 2021 and 1,000 in the next financial year.
Walmart says the new design will create a “seamless” Omni-shopping experience with more self-checkout kiosks and contactless payment options.
“We are always listening to our customers and changing our in-store, online, and mobile experience to meet and exceed their expectations,” Janey Whiteside, EVP, and Chief Customer Officer, Walmart, said in a blog post . We want their time to be enjoyable with us, and we strive to create ways for them to easily switch between shopping channels ̵1; or use them together. “
Whiteside said the new design was inspired by “airport wayfinding systems as the best examples of how to navigate large groups of people.”
Whiteside added that Walmart has tried to redesign select stores, and it will remain evolving based on customer and employee feedback.
