Getting a cappuccino, I opened the Android phone demo, thanked the Google team, and returned to the Business Insider office.
I do not know where I was in San Francisco's Financial District, I felt myself seeking an AR map feature.
Even though I know that in general I'm coming in the right direction, the AR feature has been easy to get a quick "check of sanity" I'm right.
Even though graphics are a bit small at times, the "alpha" version of the app generally works well and the user-experience is apparently seen.
While Google will not disclose an official launch date, I will be surprised if a wider roll out will not be coming soon based on how close the completeness felt.
And I hope this is true because after just using the AR feature on Google Maps for less than a mile long walk, I miss it.
