Windows 10 installs Office web apps without asking permission

The mandatory Windows 10 update is not new, but the latest example is the rise of some hacks. ZDNet, The Verge and users report that Windows 10 forcefully restarts PCs to install links to Office web apps launched on Edge, including the Start menu. And despite initial reports, this is not limited to Insider members – people using the standard Windows 10 release have also seen a change.

Apps do not take storage or other resources. To date, however, the installation of Office web apps is optional. Windows does not ask for permission, let you know what will happen. Microsoft is potentially disrupting work or other important activities to promote its online productivity suite.
