If you bought a new Oculus Quest 2 with the hope of experiencing games from the now discontinued Oculus Go, I have bad news: the company decided not to include support for Go titles in Quest 2, confirmed of Oculus consultant CTO John Carmack on Twitter.
When Oculus Quest 2 launched three days ago, some people noticed that there was no UI feature that allowed users to access Go apps and games, something featured in the original Quest headset. Carmack did not provide any details as to why support was not added except “[he] completely lost the internal debate behind compatibility. “
Oculus Go was discontinued in June, but last year, Carmack tweeted that Oculus planned to bring the Go paradigm to Quest, allowing users to play games originally released on Go to headset of virtual reality then. Not all apps and games released on the Go are backwards, but Quest owners have access to a decent library of titles released on Oculus̵7; first standalone headset, accessed via the interface of the Quest user. But the production of the original Quest was completed following the revelation of Quest 2 in September.
